After years of insecurity, fragility, and economic decline due to the collapse of the state in 1991, The Central Bank was revived and strengthened with the CBS Act of 2011. 1- Role Description
The Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the Central Bank of Somalia’s Galmudug State of Somalia Branch. This position demands a vigilant and detail-oriented professional with exceptional organizational skills and a strong sense of responsibility. The Security Officer will be entrusted with safeguarding the bank’s assets, maintaining a secure environment, and implementing security measures to mitigate potential risks.
2- General Description
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for the implementation and enforcement of security protocols and procedures at the Galmudug State of Somalia Branch of the Central Bank of Somalia. Your primary objective will be to prevent unauthorized access, maintain order, and protect personnel, customers, and assets within the premises. This role requires a high level of integrity, physical fitness, and the ability to make swift and accurate decisions in emergency situations.
3- Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Conducts regular patrols of the branch premises to ensure a secure environment.
· Monitors security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems.
· Responds promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies, taking appropriate action as necessary.
· Enforces access control measures and verify the identity of individuals entering the branch.
· Performs thorough searches of individuals, bags, and vehicles as required.
· Collaborates with law enforcement agencies and local authorities, providing security related assistance and information when necessary.
· Maintains accurate records of security incidents, accidents, and any breaches of security.
· Prepares and submits detailed incident reports to branch manager, highlighting any significant observations or concerns.
· Conducts risk assessments and proposes enhancements to security protocols as needed at branch level.
· Conducts security awareness training for bank employees and security guards, ensuring they are well-informed about security protocols and procedures.
· Supervises security guards to make sure that branch’s premises are secure and safe.
· Coordinates and participates in fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
· Maintains an inventory of security equipment, ensuring regular maintenance and functionality checks.
· Manages access control systems and issue security credentials to authorized personnel.
· Conducts investigations into security breaches, thefts, or suspicious activities, providing detailed reports to management.
· Assists the branch manager in the development and implementation of security strategies and contingency plans.
· Fosters a safe and secure work environment by promoting a culture of security consciousness among employees.
· Other job-related duties as may assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
Education:
· The ideal candidate for this position should have a Diploma in security management, criminal justice, or a related discipline. However, equivalent experience and specialized technical training will also be considered.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a security-related role, preferably in a high-security environment such as a financial institution or government agency.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing security protocols, and managing security systems will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in emergency response and crisis management would be an asset.
Language:
- The candidate must be operationally fluent in both Somali and English.
Computer skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is needed.
- Familiarity with security-related software and systems is desirable.
