The United Nations Support Office for Somalia (UNSOS) is mandated to provide administrative and logistics support to its partners in implementing the United Nations Security Council resolution on Somalia.
The Field Technology Section (FTS) has embarked on multiple projects that involve complex analysis and design of client data and challenges in areas of process re-engineering, workflow automation, and data analytics.
In view of the above, the United Nations senior leadership is seeking to engage a competent partner in the areas of Business Analysis, Workflow Automation, and Data Analytics as a strategic enabler to facilitate the mission’s pursuit of Business Process Improvement and Innovation where it is critically required.
The incumbent would be a specialist who will engage with different business clients in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM)/UNSOS with a view to developing technological solutions that would deliver value to the client. These activities would fall under the categories of Client Relationship Management, Service Design Management, and Continuous Service Improvement.
The incumbent will work alongside a team of contract developers led by a P3 Information Systems Officer within FTS and from time to time would be required to deal with external vendors to get specifications and quotes for solutions being proposed to clients.
This is a position in UNOPS for supporting projects carried out for or in UNSOS. The incumbent of this position will be a staff member of UNOPS under its full responsibility.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
1. Client Relationship Management / Translates client business needs into actionable workflows that can be automated using existing technologies.

2. Service Design Management / Provides design strategies for processes targeted for improvement/automation that meets the clients needs, are user friendly, and delivers value that is measurable.

3. Continuous Service Improvement / Ensures that services remain aligned to client needs/requirements, are efficient, reduces waste, and continues to meet established service targets.

| 4. Performs other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above. |
| Impact of Results |
| The result of work of the ICT Senior Analyst (Data Analyst and Applications Developer) impacts directly on delivery of services that satisfy the requirements of UNSOS as well as the performance of the services implemented there. It will also ensure proper processes and methodologies are followed and implemented according to industry standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring activities associated with process automation line with the overall business targets and UN policies, rules, and regulations. |

Education:
- Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Management, Business Administration, Statistics, Engineering, Communication or another related fields.
- A first level university degree (Bachelors degree) with an additional two years of relevant experience maybe accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
Required:
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive professional experience in Information Systems, Communications or related field.
- A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience working with senior leadership in aligning business needs to proposed solutions.
- A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience developing applications using tools available on the Office 365 platform.
Desirable: (The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply)
- Experience working in a multi-project environment.
- Experience in using predictive data modeling.
- Experience working in a military operations environment.
Language Requirements:
- For this position, fluency in English (write, read, speak) is required.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
