    1-      Role

    The Central Bank of Somalia’s (CBS) Galmudug State of Somalia Brach cashier is responsible for variety of cashiering duties including but not limited to cash payment, withdrawal, vault safety, managing cash, ensuring the daily closing cash statements of the branch, providing outstanding services to branch’s clients, supervises tellers to perform their daily cashiering tasks efficiently to make sure that clients are served with care and prompt response.

    2-      General Description

    The Central Bank of Somali’s Galmudug State Brach is responsible for carrying out the CBS’s mission, vision, institutional policies, goals, and objectives as state level. To this end, the CBS’ state branch is in charge of fostering economic development and preserving the stability of the country’s financial system stability at state level. In addition, the state branch will be responsible for providing banking services to the state government “Galmudug State”, other financial services, commercial banks, and the public at state level as the CBS’s Headquarters delegates.

    CBS’s Galmudug State Branch Cashier will be responsible for managing the branch’s day-to-day cash operations. The ideal candidate for this position must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, required technical skills, ability to work under pressure, detail-oriented, accurate, and have excellent customer service and cashiering skills. This position also requires a high level of proficiency in cash handling processes and banking systems (core banking). Overall, the Cashier will assist the branch manager to carry out the day-to-day cash handling operations of the branch.

    3-      Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Supervises branch’s tellers.
    • Verifies daily transactions in the system whether it’s withdrawal, deposits, revenues, and payment transfers.
    • Prepares daily closing statements of the branch and submits them to the Branch Manager for approval.
    • Handles cash withdrawals and deposits of commercial Banks and State Ministry of Finance
    • Performs daily records in the core banking system.
    • Assists the Branch Manager with cash transporting to or from the Branch/HQ.
    • Loads cash from/to Vaults and to the cash counting center.
    • He/she reconciles with branch accountant officer.
    • Ensures that all cash handling procedures are followed precisely to prevent delays, mistakes, inconsistencies, and cash loss.
    • Verify cheque signatures before cash deposits and withdrawals made.
    • Makes sure that all branch’s cash transactions are accurately recorded and kept safe during the operations.
    • Responsible for custody of Panel A Vault Keys.
    • Makes sure that branch’s tellers are adhered to all CBS regulations and internal policies.
    • Deal will Customer enquiries and complains.
    • Introducing new staff members to the CBS Banking operations procedures and software’s
    • Identify cash related errors and Cash operational risks.
    • Oversee the security of the cash transported to the QH and vice versa.
    • Responsible prevention and properly recording of the counterfeit notes at Branch level and report Branch Manager.
    • Supervise Cash counting and sorting notes using cash counting machines as well as detecting counterfeit notes.
    • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by the Brach Manager.

    Education:

    • The ideal candidate for this position must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, banking, finance, or business administration.
    • Master’s degree in accounting, banking, economics, or finance will be an added advantage.

    Work Experience:

    • Candidate must have a minimum of five (3) years of working experience in cash handling or a related job.
    • Hands-on previous cashier experience in the banking industry is preferred.

    Language:

    • Operationally fluent in both Somali and English.

    Computer Skills:

    • The candidate of this position must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have experience with banking software (Core Banking).

    5-      Functional and Organizational Skills

    The ideal candidate should possess the following functional and organizational skill:
